London Urban Collective Purgatory
Following on from their award-winning Hipopera Inferno (Best Narrative Short, Chicago International Hip Hop Film Festival 2009), the acclaimed Urban Collective youth music project returns to the capital with a new cast of breakthrough artists and a new adaptation of Dante’s Purgatory for a spectacular stage performance in partnership with The Pleasance Theatre Islington.

The Urban Collective™ project is a youth music social enterprise that empowers young people aspiring to a career in the music industry to write, record and promote original music for independent release under expert professional mentoring.
In addition, as a project legacy, Urban Collective also builds a recording studio in each partner community center to facilitate ongoing recordings and audio production training.
Since its launch in London in 2004, more than 500 young artists across the UK have collaborated to produce several released albums, an award winning feature film, documentaries, music videos and dozens of live shows and music industry showcases.
Urban Collective is now establishing 501(c)(3) status in the USA and is looking to launch American Urban Collective in 2010 / 2011. Meanwhile Freeport Entertainment provides optional management assistance to artists looking to develop their careers into the mainstream.

London Urban Collective, the acclaimed youth-music project that turns inner-city kids into rising stars of the British music industry, has created an original Hipopera that sets Dante’s Inferno in modern-day London.
The 47-minute film, already chosen by Community Channel in its best of 2008 programming, won BEST NARRATIVE SHORT at The Chicago International Hip Hop Film Festival.
